Immediate Implants
Implants placed into fresh extraction sockets (Immediate implants) offer the following advantages:
- To avoid hard and soft tissue collapsing – studies have shown significant bone shrinkage occurs in the firstĀ 2 months after a tooth is removed.
- To avoid the need for grafting.
- To avoid extra surgeries.
- For faster results.
Immediate implants are technique sensitive and possible if the area around the extracted tooth is infection-free and certain other clinical criteria are met. If immediate implant are not possible due to infection, a bone and soft tissue healing period is required prior to re-assessment and placement of implants.
